Although making it to the final squad, Pakistan’s front line pacer Junaid Khan has now been ruled out of the World Cup after he failed the fitness test.
On Monday, the injured pacer announced on social media that he was unable to pass PCB’s fitness test. “It was the will of god, and I now pray for Pakistan,” he wrote on his twitter account.
After performing well in Pentangular Cup, Junaid picked hamstring injury during training session ahead of New Zealand series.
All-rounder Bilawal Bhatti replaced him for the series but PCB had said that Junaid would join the team for World Cup after clearing fitness test.
Since Junaid has now failed the fitness test, Bilawal is likely to be retained for the World Cup campaign. Selectors had said that Bilawal chances of making it to World Cup squad would depend on Junaid’s recovery and how he performs in New Zealand series.
Experienced Junaid along with Mohammad Irfan, was to carry Pakistan’s prospects during their World Cup campaign but the news of him being unable to recover from hamstring injury have put question mark on Pakistan’s World Cup chances.
