Karachi: Wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal defended his brother and national cricketer Umar Akmal in corruption allegations.
In a media interaction after scoring a match-winning century against Quetta Gladiators, Akmal asked people to wait for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s final verdict in his brother’s yet another controversial case.
“The case has been portrayed in the wrong way. I know my brother, he can’t disrespect the game he loves the most. Let’s wait for the PCB to investigate the matter and give their final say on it,” Akmal said upon being asked.
It must be noted here that Akmal has been suspended by PCB under their anti-corruption code. He was reportedly involved in suspicious activities.
On the other hand, Akmal shared his feeling on scoring the third century, most by any batsman in the PSL’s history so far. “Thanks to almighty Allah for accomplishing yet another milestone. I am to contribute worthy for my team in their first win in this edition,” he said.
Akmal has now 1430 runs at an average of 31.08 with three centuries and nine 50s.
