Peshawar Zalmi lost their dominance on the points table after their loss against Islamabad United on Saturday and has fallen to the third position due to Quetta Gladiators brilliant win over Lahore Qalandars.
The Men in Yellow will face Karachi Kings tonight in Sharjah for the second time in the tournament. The last time they met, Peshawar enjoyed a comfortable against the star studded Karachi Kings.
However, the situation can be different this time as Karachi Kings will take the field with some confidence after their much needed first win in the tournament that they got against Islamabad United. On the other hand, Zalmis might be under pump for being ranked at the third position on the points table.
Karachi Kings’ big names, other than Kumar Sangakkara and Shoaib Malik, have not fired at all. Chris Gayle has been a total disappointment for them so far as he has just scored 17 runs in four games. It will be a tough call for Kings’ think tank to weather persist with the giant from Caribbean or replace him with someone like Mahela Jayawerdene who has been warming the bench throughout the tournament. Everyone knows that if Gayle fires, he will get you a win single handedly, on the other hand, he has looked completely off colour. So it will be a tricky pick for KK.
The franchise must be happy with the way their youngsters, Usama Mir, Usman Khan Shenwari and especially Babar Azam has played so far in the campaign. They were the difference between their game against Islamabad United and they are very much capable of doing the trick against any other opposition too.
Peshawar Zalmi have a really good bunch of players and they have been complementing each other very nicely. They almost defended a moderate total of 137 runs against the solid Islamabad United line up on Saturday.
Peshawar Zalmi will surely take the field as the favourites to win the contest, but Karachi Kings can surprise them with their unpredciatbility. All in all, fans should look forward for a thriller tonight.
