Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar Khan would like to see Karachi host the final of the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Lahore is set to host the PSL 2017 final on March 5 after the Punjab government on Monday gave a go-ahead to the organisers to stage the finale of the country’s franchise-based mega cricket league after weeks of speculation amid security fears.
Shaharyar believed the largest city of the country should not be overlooked.
“I believe Karachi deserves to host the PSL final next year,” Shaharyar said during a media talk on Wednesday.
The PCB chief said it was his personal opinion and that the PSL chairman Najam Sethi along with his team are the people who are going to make any final calls.
Shaharyar expressed his delight following overwhelming response from the citizens of Lahore who came put in huge numbers to buy the tickets for the March 5 finale.
“The people love cricket and they are eager to get entertained on Sunday,” said the former diplomat.
“It does not matter if foreign players pull out of the final, other players will replace them.” he added.
Shaharyar added he has been made assure by the authorities that the final will go ahead in a safe and secure environment.
