Rawalpindi: Fakhar Zaman (57) and Mohammad Rizwan (67) helped Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) beat Sindh by 8 wickets to qualify for the National T20 Cup 2020 final.
The opening duo socred 113 runs together to set the final contest with Southern Punjab (SP) who beat Northern to qualify.
Sent into bat first, opener Khurram Manzoor smashed 74 runs off 57 balls to guide Sindh to post 142-10 in 20 overs.
Sindh lost Sharjeel Khan earlier but Khurram once again powered with his third swashbuckling half-century in the event laced with eight boundaries and two sixes.
From thereon, no other batsmen supported the in-form Khurram who lost his wicket in a run-out. In the end, Danish Aziz yet again proved his mettle by scoring 39 runs off 27 balls with the help of three boundaries.
For KP, Imran Khan and Usman Shinwari took two wickets each while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Wahab Riaz, and Asif Afridi shared a wicket apiece.
In reply, Rizwan and Fakhar provided a powerful start to their team which made it through to the final. Fakhar struck eight boundaries and two sixes while Rizwan smashed 11 boundaries during their stay at the crease.
Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik scored the winning runs for their team. Hafeez scored 12 from 9 balls with the help of two boundaries whereas Shoaib made six including a boundary.
Danish Aziz was the only wicket-taker from Sindh. Slow left-arm orthodox picked up two wickets for his team.
Now, SP and KP will lock horns in the final of the National T20 Cup 2020 on Sunday.
