After disastrous performance of Pakistani opener in the Asia Cup, Ahmed Shehzad has been included in the World T20 squad to replace Khurram Manzoor. He managed just 11 runs in three games that he played in the Asia Cup; his highest score was 10 runs against India.
Ahmed Shehzad was dropped for the Asia Cup and World T20 due to his continuous failures. However, he improved his performance in the first ever Pakistan Super League, playing Quetta Gladiators. He was definitely in the radar of selectors after his performance with the bat in the PSL.
Pakistan’s top order failed terribly during the Asia Cup, which has made selectors to re-evaluate their decision of dropping Ahmed Shahzad and including Khurram Manzoor.
Ahmed Shehzad is nearing the milestone of scoring 1000 runs in T20 internationals; he has scored 941 runs in his 40 T20 appearances with an average of 24.76. He is also the only centurian for Pakistan in the shortest format of cricket.
There are reports that the board has asked Ahmed Shehzad for his passport, so that they can start his visa process, the official announcement of including him in the squad for the mega event is expected soon.
