KARACHI: Former speedster Shoaib Akhtar said Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) composed the worst ever Pakistan Super League (PSL)’s official anthem this year.
Sung by Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig, and Young Stunner, PSL 6 anthem got a mixed reaction on social media but Akhtar wasn’t happy at all.
The cricketer-turned-analyst took to his YouTube channel to share how this year’s PSL anthem scared his kids. “I am going to file a case against PCB through my videos because this PSL anthem has made my kids scared. They are not talking to me for the last three days” he said.
“Who has made this song? What does groove mean, did they even know its meaning? I think the singers also don’t know the meaning of Groove,” he bashed. “Such a poor composition of this song. It was the worst-ever anthem of the PSL I must say,” he maintained.
Akhtar said PCB is only responsible for this poor anthem and their marketing team or whoever pitched this idea should be held accountable for this. “I always talked about PCB’s incompetency and here is an example. There is no fault of these singers, PCB is responsible for this damage,” he pointed out.
“I mean why don’t PCB call some renowned singers and composers from our industry and ask them to make the best possible song with the best voices, composition, and representation of all our cultures. As simple as that,” he suggested.
In the end, the cricketer offered PCB to sing PSL’s anthem next time. “PCB, next time if you don’t find anyone better than this, then ask me to sing PSL anthem,” he concluded.
