DUBAI: Karachi Kings will take on Lahore Qalandars in a do or die game of Pakistan Super League in Dubai. The Kings need to win today if they want to keep themselves alive in the tournament, if they lose, they will be out of the league and Qalandars will be through.

Karachi Kings is bottom ranked team in PSL’s points table at the moment with four points. They have won just two of their six encounters in the campaign. Whereas , Lahore Qalandars are just one rank ahead of them with six points due to their three wins in seven games.

Lahore Qalandars will be playing their last contest of the league and are one win away from playoffs. On the other hand, Karachi Kings have to win against Lahore Qalandars and also have to knock down the reigning champions Islamabad United in their next game to confirm their berth to the playoffs. However, if they lose against United, the place for the next round will be decided on net run rate, where KK have the advantage for now.

Lahore Qalandars could not make into the playoffs in the inaugural edition of PSL as well. At that time, Qalandars and Kings have equal points, but the Kings were through to playoffs on the basis of their head to head record.

In the ongoing season of the league, Lahore Qalandars have defeated Karachi Kings in their first meeting. Moreover, under captaincy of Brendon McCullum, Lahore Qalandars have looked a different side and have challenged their opponents in almost of their encounters.

Whereas, Karachi Kings’ batting line has looked toothless apart from Babar Azam and the captain Kumar Sangakkara. West Indies’ hard hitting batsmen Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and the Englishman Ravi Bopara have failed to click at crucial stages. In contrast, their bowling have done well at occasions and in bits and pieces.

Both teams are well balanced and are looking solid on paper, it is just about the execution of plan and keeping the nerves calm.

Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars are expected to put up thrilling show in Dubai today. The game will be played at 4:30 PM (PST).
