Sarfraz Ahmed will lead Pakistan in the upcoming Champions Trophy, which will be played in England from June 1 to 18.
Pakistan do not have any significant performance in the multi-nation cricketing event as they have not surpassed the semi-final stage for once. The positive for them is that they have defeated India two times in their three meetings in the tournament. The Men in Green are to play their first game of the Champions Trophy 2017 against the arch-rivals.
Pakistan had a disastrous Champions Trophy 2013 as they were the only side to lose all four matches of their campaign.
Sarfraz Ahmed seems to have bring a new life to Pakistan’s ODI team with his aggressive and proactive captaincy. He has led Pakistan in four matches and has steered his team to victory three times.
Sarfraz Ahmed made his ODI debut on November 18, 2007 against India at Jaipur. Since then, he has played 70 matches and has scored 1,568 runs at an average of 35.63 with a strike rate of 88.78.
Sarfraz Ahmed has scored two centuries and six half-centuries so far in his career. Moreover, he has dismissed 84 batsmen with wicket-keeping gloves on, which include 62 catches and 22 stumps.
His aggressive captaincy and batting can come handy for Pakistan during the Champions Trophy in England. Pakistan would like to put up a decent show in the big tournament.
