Karachi: Pakistan’s limited-overs captain Babar Azam has once again confessed that Indian skipper Virat Kohli is one of the batting greats and he is far behind than him.
The 25-year-old Babar Azam has become one of the batting sensations in recent times and is also challenging the best batsmen across formats. He is often compared with Kohli but he thinks that Kohli is ahead of him, he has a lot more to achieve.
“He is one of the best batsmen, I still have a lot to achieve. I will try to become a batsman like him and win matches for Pakistan and create records,” Babar told Cricbuzz in an exclusive interview with renowned Indian commentator and analyst Harsha Bhogle.
“There are similarities between me and Virat. Some of our shots do match. So, I try to do something different,” Babar on similarities with Virat’ cover drive and flick shots.
Babar also revealed that he try and keep track of modern greats like Kohli and Steve Smith are performing. “I used to try and watch them play, how they bat in various conditions, their approach in different phases of the game,” he added.
“I always try to visualize what I have done If I were in that situation against a particular bowler. I don’t look to compare myself with the great players, I make runs to prove it to myself. I try to satisfy fans, team,” he maintained.
He also formed Indo-Pak T20 XI on the basis of current teams in which he included six Indians and five Pakistanis.
