KP leads Second XI tournament’s points table with consecutive wins


Lahore: Israrullah 71* and Musadiq Ahmed 62* powered Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to mark second consecutive win in the National T20 Cup Second XI tournament by defeating Southern Punjab (SP) by 10 wickets. 

KP were set to chase 141 runs in 20 overs. Irarullah and Musadiq Ahmed gave a solid start to the chasing side. Irarullah took 48 balls to smack 71 runs with the help of eight boundaries and three sixes. Whereas, Musadiq smashed 62 runs off 51 deliveries with the help of seven boundaries and two sixes.

No bowler did work for Southern Punjab as all of them went wicketless.

Earlier, Agha Salman rescued SP who were reduced to 43-5. He scored 88 runs off 57 balls with the help of nine boundaries and 5 sixes. No other batsman was able to get into double figures.

For KP, Mohammad Sarwar bagged three wickets while Sameen Gul, Mohammad Imran, Khalid Usman, and Asad Afridi bagged a wicket each.

In the sixth match of second XI tournament, Central Punjab (CP) beat Baluchistan by 17 runs to win their second consecutive match.

While batting first CP scored 142-7 in respective 20 overs. Raza Ali Dar was the highest run-getter from CP with 39 runs off 33 balls. Mohammad Saad scored 36 off 40 balls with the help of two boundaries and a six.

For Baluchistan, Akhtar Shah bagged four wickets for 26 runs while Najeebullah took two wickets. Mohammad Talha took a wicket.

In reply, Baluchistan were able to score 125 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Ayaz Tasawwar scored highest 48 runs off 28 balls with the help of five boundaries and two sixes.

Waqas Maqsood, Mohammad Ali Kha, Bilawal Iqbal, and Kamran Afzal bagged two wickets each for CP.
