Lahore: PCB’s executive committee head Najam Sethi says the biggest tragedy for Pakistan cricket is the absence of international cricket.
While speaking to the media he said in Pakistan there is a low tendency of attracting school and college going children towards cricket due to which today we find children who played in the streets joining the national team. He said when we took the initiative to start PSL there was lot of criticism from the people as well as the PCB higher officials, but then everyone saw that PSL added a new life to Pakistan cricket. We now intend promoting and developing our cricket structure on the same lines as PSL and will try to ensure that regional teams buy our PSL franchise.
Najam Sethi said for the past 8 years Pakistan has never had international cricket which is a big tragedy for our cricket, but whenever we lose the entire blame is put on PCB shoulders. He said there is a great need to organize cricket structure in Pakistan. PCB earns from its foreign tours and whatever is earned is spent on domestic cricket. Unfortunately in Pakistan cricket at grass root level is in a bad shape because nothing is being spent on cricket. In Lahore cricket at the school and college level has improved, however children in schools all over the country need to be encouraged and guided towards playing cricket.
