Karachi: Brett Lee shared experience of watching former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar for the first time in the late 90s’.

“Holy Smoke! Who is this guy?” former Australian cricketer shared the first impression of watching Akhtar bowl for the first time while speaking to Rooter App.

“I still remember it was 1997 or 98 when I first saw him bowl on TV. I used to play for my home club Mosman Cricket Club and one day we went back to the hotel after winning the match. While having some drinks, I watched Pakistan playing a Test and saw this guy [Akhtar] with beautiful black flying hairs running in and quick arm action, uhhh, that was really good pace,” he added.

Former paceman also revealed the friendship secret between him and Akhtar for over the years. “We became friends as we both loved to bowl fast. I loved watching bowlers who bowl quick regardless of where they come from,” he said.

Akhtar took to Twitter to reply to Lee’s comment and wrote “Binga, I feel, playing in the same era with you added a lot in my game too. There was a sense that there’s someone similar right around me. But yeah, I had a better hairstyle. Haha.”
