Pakistan’s right-handed batsman Abid Ali gets motivation when his teammates call him ‘Legend’ and he tries to fulfil all the expectations.
Abid, in an open media session at a local hotel upon their arrival in Karachi, recalled how his teammates started calling him ‘Legend’.
“During a net session in Australia, as usual, I was focusing on my batting. I always enjoy batting in nets so players around me including Haris Sohail, Azhar Ali, Babar and in fact everyone there started calling me ‘Legend’. I don’t know why because for me ‘Legend’ is something very big and I am even not nearer to that, maybe it is there thinking,” he said.
The right-handed batsman is happy to accomplish a splendid milestone the other day and is confident to leave a strong impression in Karachi’s Test.
“That inning gave me immense confidence. I am positive to take this form into the Karachi’s Test which I am sure is going to be yet another historic moment in Pakistan’s cricket history,” he said.
“For me accomplishing a unique milestone was a dream come true. I can’t express my feelings in words. If you work hard you become able to mark such laurels,” the opening batter marked.
The 32-years-old Abid brushed aside age-factor and is keen to serve Pakistan’s cricket as long as he can. “I don’t think age matters, it’s just a number. If you are fit enough to play then you should put aside such things. I am hoping to continue this form ahead,” he said.
Talking about the second and last Test in Karachi, Abid asked Karachiites to come and support Test cricket’s return strongly.
“I am hopeful people of Karachi will come and support Test cricket’s return, after all, they have been waiting for international cricket action since long,” he concluded.
