Legends laud Wahab’s fiery spell against Australia

KARACHI: Veteran and legendary cricketers lauded Pakistani fast bowler Wahab Riaz’s lethal spell in the World Cup quarter final against Australia, ARYSports.tv reports.

The pacer had Australia’s Shane Watson all over the place with his aggressive bowling in the crucial quarter final which Pakistan lost by six wickets.

Rahat Ali dropped Watson off Riaz’s stunning bouncer, which could have turned the match in Pakistan’s favour.

The legends took to social media to laud the Pakistani fast bowler’s spell in the quarter final match.

West Indies cricket great Brian Lara said that the pacer’s spell to Watson was a joy to watch whereas English batsman Kevin Pietersen called it the greatest spell bowled on Australian soil.

Australian player Tom Moody tweeted that Wahab’s spell was one of the greats in the World Cup 2015 whereas former New Zealand player Scott Styris also lauded the pacer’s spell in the quarter final.

Styris also lashed out at the International Cricket Council (ICC) for fining Shane Watson and Wahab Riaz after the quarter final.

Watson himself had said that he was lucky to get through the pacer’s spell in the match.
