Pakistani-origin British boxer, Amir Khan has responded to ‘friend’ Manny Pacquiao’s statement regarding fighting him, through a tweet.
The Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao is to take on American boxer Jessie Vargas on Saturday. He told Sky Sports in an interview that he is up for a fight against ‘friend’ Amir Khan.
“I’m willing to fight anybody,” said Pacquiao. “Amir is my friend and it’s good to fight somebody that you know. That’s better.”
In response of Pacquiao’s statement, the former champion took Twitter to answer his call and tweeted, “Sometimes friends fight one another. Let’s make this fight happen for the fans.”
It will be Filipino’s boxer’s 67th bout, but, his first shot at the world title as a member of government. He says that he is ready to take up both the roles together.
“The love of boxing motivated me and also I feel lonely inside,” he said. “I realise I can still box and so I decided to change my mind and continue the journey. It’s not easy [to combine boxing with being a senator], it’s hard to balance working in an office and training but I can manage my time.”
“This is a very important fight and it’s a difficult fight — he’s a champion so you can’t underestimate him or take him lightly but I’ll make sure I’m 100 per cent conditioned, mentally and spiritually,” he further said.
