Lionel Messi leaves FC Barcelona

KARACHI: Argentina’s football star, Lionel Messi has left his childhood football club FC Barcelona after the two parties failed to agree on the economic and structural matters.

The news has been confirmed by both Messi and the club that they are not going to continue anymore due to economic and structural obstacles.

“Despite having reached an agreement between Barcelona and Leo Messi and with the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, it will not be possible to formalize due to economic and structural obstacles,” the club said in a statement.

“Faced with this situation, Messi will not continue to be linked to Barcelona. The two parties deeply regret that the wishes of both the player and the Club cannot finally be fulfilled.  Barça wants to thank with all the heart the player’s contribution to the aggrandizement of the institution and wishes him the best in his personal and professional life,” the statement added.

It must be noted here that Messi joined Barcelona at the age of 13 when he was given chance in the club’s U14 team. Since then, Messi went on to represent the club in different age categories in several tournaments.
