Shaheen, Rizwan lead KP to convincing win against Balochistan


Multan: Shaheen Shah Afridi’s five-wicket haul and captain Mohammad Rizwan’s half-century have led Balochistan to a convincing eight-wicket win over Balochistan in the fifth match of the National T20 Cup.

Rizwan partnered with Mohammad Hafeez and Iftikhar Ahmed to chase the target of 153 in 17.1 overs. Rizwan made 42-balls 57 which included five fours and two sixes.

Veteran Hafeez batted at a strike-rate of 180, scoring 25-balls 45 with the help of five fours and three sixes. Iftikhar closed the game quickly by smashing 29 runs on just 17 balls. Fakhar Zaman made 25. Akif Javed and Amad Butt picked a wicket each.

Earlier, Balochistan scored 152/9 in 20 overs with Imran Butt scoring highest 37. Captain Haris Sohail scored 29 whereas Awais Zia made 24.

Shaheen claimed figures of 5/20 in his quota of four overs. The 20-year-old dismissed Imam-ul-Haq (9), Awais in two consecutive balls in his second over. He later removed Amad Butt (4), Yasir Shah (0), Umaid Asif (7).

Beside Shaheen’s fifer, Usman Shniwari picked two, Wahab Riaz and Asif claimed a wicket each. Shaheen was awarded player of the match for his exceptional bowling.
