Lahore: Pakistan has defeated Bangladesh in the second T20I by nine wickets and has also won the T20I series against Bangladesh courtesy skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez half-centuries.
Mohammad Hafeez scored a well-made 67 off 49 balls in which he hammered 9 fours and one massive six. World number one T20-ranked Babar Azam came back to form after two failures in T20I cricket. He made 66 and his innings included seven fours and a six. They both put 130 runs for the second-wicket stand.
“It was a must-win match for Pakistan and feels good on a series win,” Babar said in a post-match presser.
Bangladesh bowlers were hopeless and only managed to pick one wicket of Ahsan Ali in the second over by Shafiul Islam who fell for a duck.
Earlier Pakistan bowlers restricted Bangladesh to 136-6 after losing the toss. Mohammad Hasnain was the pick of the bowlers claiming two for 20 in four overs. Shaheen Shah, Shadab Khan, and Haris Rauf picked one wicket each.
“Pakistan has always had a great bowling attack and again they showed their strength today,” Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo praises Pakistan bowlers in a post-match presser.
For Bangladesh, Opener Tamim Iqbal scored 65 off 53 balls which included seven fours and a six. He added 45 for the fourth wicket along with Atif Hossain (21). Tamim departed courtesy brilliant runout by Imad Wasim in the 18th over.
“In the first match, we were 10-15 runs short and today we were 20-25 runs shorts,” Russell added.
Yesterday, Pakistan won the first match and now will face the visitors in the final T20I on January 27th.
“We will try to end the series on a good note by winning the third T20I match,” Russell concluded.
It must be noted that green shirts have to defeat Bangladesh in order to retain the number one spot in the T20I team rankings.
