Ronchi, Munro drive Islamabad United to first win in PSL 5


Lahore: Luke Ronchi is still left with a lot of potential as the right-handed batsman scored match-winning 70 runs for Islamabad United against Multan Sultans in the fifth match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. 

Along with United’s second opener Colin Munro, Ronchi dominated the entire contest against Shan Masood led Sultans. They both put 92 runs together for the first wicket to lay down a solid foundation for the winning side.

Colin Munro spent quality time at the crease and scored 50 runs off 32 balls. His excitement-filled inning includes three boundaries and four sixes.

Dabid Malan remained not our for 35 runs off 21 balls including five boundaries and a six. Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Ilyas bagged a wicket each for Sultans.

Earlier, Zeeshan Ashraf’s late half-century helped Sultans post 164-8. Zeeshan rescued Sultans after a mini-collapse in the middle-overs. He smashed 29-ball 50 which included three massive sixes and four fours.

The other two notable scorers were English batsman James Vince, who departed after scoring 31-ball 42 and captain Shan Masood (21) who went back to the pavilion in the sixth over by Faheem Ashraf.

Amad Butt, the pick of the bowlers for United, picking up four for 27 in four overs. Faheem claimed two for 34.
