The Karachi Kings and Islamabad United faced off in the first match of the day here in Dubai. Both the teams have lost their previous matches and this match is an important one for the teams.
Karachi Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first as this has been the norm of the tournament so far.
Shane Watson and Sharjeel Khan opened the batting for the Islamabad United while Mohammad Amir started the bowling for Karachi Kings.
At the end of first over Islamabad United were 2/0.
Sohail Tanvir started bowling from the other end as Karachi Kings decided to go for pace at the beginning of the match.
At the end of second over Islamabad United were 6/0.
Watson smacked Amir for a six in the third over and got his team going.

At the end of third over Islamabad United were 18/0. Sharjeel smashed Tanvir for two fours in the over as United marched to 31 at the end of four overs. At the end of four over Islamabad United were 31/0. Imad Wasim dismissed Shane Watson of the first ball of the fifth over when he had reached 13 runs off 14 balls. United were 31/1 at this stage. The new batsman Khalid Latif got off to a rollicking start as he smacked Imad for a six and a four. At the end of 5 overs Islamabad United were 42/1. Shoaib Malik came on to bowl the last over of the power play. IU finished the power play in a good manner as they accumulated 7 runs in this over. At the end of 6 overs Islamabad United were 49/1. Shakib bowled a very good over and conceded just one run. At the end of 7 overs Islamabad United were 50/1. Ravi Bopara was brought on to bowl earlier in this match as compared to the previous one as he was under utilized in Karachi’s defeat against Gladiators yesterday. At the end of 8 overs Islamabad United were 56/1. Latif reached 28 while Sharjeel moved along to 23 runs at the end of 9 overs. At the end of 9 overs Islamabad United were 66/1.
At the end of 10 overs score reached 71/0. Usama Mir was brought on to bowl in the 11th over of the match. Usama replaced Noman Anwar in the side for today’s match. At the end of 11 overs score reached 76/0.
At the end of 12 overs score reached 79/2. Ashar Zaidi and Khalid Latif looked to get the team back on track after losing Sharjeel. At the end of 13 overs the score reached 86/2. Bopara ran out Ashar Zaidi courtesy some clever piece of fielding off his own bowling. Zaidi scored 6 runs off 9 balls as he struggled to get going. At the end of 14 overs the score reached 89/3. Usama Mir dismissed the big hitting Andre Russell for 2 runs and removed the most dangerous batsman of the Islamabad United side. At the end of 15 overs the score reached 91/4. Bopara took the big scalp of Khalid Latif who made 39 off 35 balls. In an amazing turn of events Sam Billings was out via a brilliant run out. Misbah and Imran Khalid made their way to the wicket. At the end of 16 overs the score reached 97/6. Misbah and Khalid looked to rebuild the innings after those cluster of wickets for the Karachi Kings which earned the Karachi side bragging rights. At the end of 17 overs the score reached 101/6. Misbah was caught at long on as he tried to hit a six off Bopara.
At the end of 18 overs the score reached 111/7. Those few wickets meant that Islamabad side struggled to score runs in the all important last few overs. This over yielded just 7 runs. At the end of 19 overs the score reached 118/7. Amir bowled the final over of the match and conceded four of the first ball. Imran Khalid got run out by Mohammad Amir when the score was 123/8. At the end of 20 overs the final total achieved by the Islamabad United was 132/8. The target for Karachi Kings was 133 which was significantly less than what it seemed at the beginning of the match. Khalid Latif was the top scorer with 39 runs. Ravi Bopara was the pick of the bowlers for KK as he took 2 wickets and also inflicted a run out.
Karachi Kings began their run chase chasing a target of 133 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The first overs saw them scoring 2 runs. Vince and Simmons opened the batting for Karachi Kings. At the end of first over the score was 2/0. Simmons was dismissed through a run out as Ashar Zaidi ran him out and gave the United team the perfect start. The over was a maiden from Imran Khalid. At the end of second over score was 2/1. Mohammad Sami owned Imad in the third over of the match as Imad failed to connect. Only one run came off this over. At the end of third over the score reached 3/1. Ajmal struck gold in the fourth over as James Vince was given out LBW. He scored 2 runs off 11 balls. Shoaib Malik was the new batsman. The score was 3/2. Imad smacked Ajmal for three fours in a row and got the Kings back on track.
At the end of fourth over the score reached 17/2.
The crowd kept on cheering for both sides as Karachi Kings accumulated 7 runs of the fifth over.
At the end of fifth over the score reached 24/2.
Imad Wasim was handling the situation with calmness and control as he smacked 2 fours in the 6th over off the bowling of Shane Watson. The owners cheered for their team in the stands.
At the end of 6th over the score reached 34/2
Imad Wasim was dismissed by Russell which is a crucial wicket at this stage as Imad was looking extremely dangerous and threatening to take the game away from United. Shakib Al Hasan was the new batsman for the KK side.
At the end of 7th over the score was 37/3.
Shoaib Malik was clean bowled by Mohammad Sami as the Kings captain made his way back to the pavilion.
At the end of 8 overs the score was 44/4.
At the end of 9 overs the score was 48/4.
Misbah was out of the field and not leading the side as he was suffering due to a calf injury.
At the end of 10 overs the score reached 52/4.
Shakib and Iftikhar kept on milking the bowlers as Ajmal’s over came to an end where he conceded just 5 runs. Shakib was on 8 while Iftikhar was on 10.
At the end of 11 overs the score reached 57/4.
An interesting over from Russell came to an end where he used a different action to bowl a delivery.
At the end of 12 overs the score reached 64/4.
The Islamabad United side were given some useful tips from their coach Dean Jones during the strategic timeout. It is about time that the Kings took the attack to the bowlers and get quick runs. Shakib was on 10 while Iftikhar was on 14.
Rumman Raees dismissed Iftikhar for 19 runs as he caught by Sharjeel at mid wicket. Ravi Bopara was the new batsman at the crease.
At the end of 13 overs the score was 72/5.

Ajmal strikes once again for Islamabad as Shakib was dismissed trying to up the anti and score a few runs. He scored 20 runs off 22 balls. Saif Bangash was dismissed for a first ball duck. Ajmal took two wicket in the over and changed the complexion of the match.
At the end of 15 overs the score was 87/7.
The 16th over earned just 3 runs as Islamabad United tightened the screws and closed in on victory. Meanwhile Karachi needed a special knock to win.
At the end of 16 overs the score was 90/7.
Sohail Tanvir was ran out as Rumman Raees showed tremendous athleticism and picked up a wicket through his fielding.
At the end of 17 overs the score reached 93/8.
A six from Bopara helped KK to 104 at the end of the over. Sami ended his spell with figures with of 1/26 in four overs.
At the end of 18 overs the score was 104/8.
Usama Mir smacked a four of the second ball of the over while Bopara scored another boundary of the 4th ball in the 19th over.
At the end of 19 overs the score was 117/8.

Watson wins it for Islamabad United as he defends 4 runs off the last ball. What a thrilling end to the match !!!
