Rossouw’s fastest PSL ton powers Sultans to 30-run win over Gladiators

Multan: Rilee Rossouw fastest PSL hundred powered Multan Sultans to a comfortable 30-run win against Quetta Gladiators in today’s first fixture.

Rilee thrilled the jam-packed crowd at Multan Cricket Stadium breaking Cameron Delport’s record, who scored a 49-ball ton last season. His innings included six massive sixes and ten fours. Sultans secured three straight wins in Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five.

After opting to bat first, Sultans struggled in the first ten overs, losing three quick wickets. Naseem Shah removed Zeeshan Ashraf in the fourth over. Mohammad Nawaz got the price wicket of James Vince as he scores 24-ball 29. Ben Cutting rattled the stumps of Moeen Ali, who managed to score only six.

Rossouw and skipper Shan Masood rescued Sultans from 48/3. Both added 139 in 63 balls for the fourth-wicket. Shan departed after scoring 46 off just 32 balls. Naseem, Anwar Ali, Cutting, Nawaz, Sohail Khan all shared a wicket each. Sultans finished on 199/5 in 20 overs.

Gladiators started the chase aggressively courtesy Jason Roy and Shane Watson 57-run  stand until Roy departed after scoring 30. Bilawal Bhatti claimed his wicket in the seventh over.

Watson was the lone warrior in the run chase as he couldn’t get ample support from the other end. Watson scored 41-ball 81, smashing seven fours and as many sixes. Imran Tahir got his price wicket in the 16th-over.

After the wicket of Watson, Gladiators collapsed completely. Bilawal Bhatti in his first match of this season picked three for 26 in four overs. Tahir again bowled economically, claiming two for 27 in his quota of four overs. Gladiators only managed to score 169/7 in 20 overs. Rossouw awarded player of the match for his first PSL century.

Sultans are sitting comfortably at top of the points table with four wins and eight points. Gladiators are at the second spot with three wins and six points.
