Opening ceremony of PSL 5 done and dusted in Karachi


The fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) kicked off with a glittering opening ceremony at Karachi’s National Stadium.

Host Ahmed Godil welcomed the fans with the National anthem. The amazing holographic technology of six cities was used at the ceremony to entertain the viewers.

Renowned actor, VJ and singer Fakhar-e-Alam took the responsibility of hosting and asked Chief Minister of Sindh and PCB chairman Ehsan Mani to address.

“It wasn’t easy to bring PSL in Pakistan, congratulations PCB and all people involved in this initiative. A very strong message goes out from here to the world, we are safe, we want cricket,” Murad said.

“Tell the world, Pakistan Tayyar Hai [Pakistan is ready] for all international action. We are a peace-loving nation and we want more cricket here,” Mani said.

Folk musicians Sanam Marvi, Abu Mohammad, Fareed Ayaz with soch band enthralled the crowd by a mix of folk and pop music.

Legend pop-rock singer Sajjad Ali performed the iconic “Babia” which received loud cheers from the attendants.

Renowned Baazi singer Aima Baig dazzled the fans with her performance that made the atmosphere absolutely electrifying. The oath for the PSLV was taken by the owners and captains, with each of them accompanied by differently-abled children from across the country.

Abrar-ul-Haq famous for his bhangra themed music made the whole crowd dive in nostalgia with his iconic songs. The crowd was seen dancing on his famous “Nach Punjaban”. Followed by Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who enthralled his fans with his own style of Sufi music.

Ali Azmat, Arif Lohar, Haroon, and Asim Azhar performed the PSL anthem followed by outstanding fireworks, which lit the night Karachi sky.


It must be noted that the opening match of PSL five is underway. Quetta Gladiators have won the toss and decided to bowl first.
