Debutant Abdullah, Kamran drive Central Punjab to first win


Multan: Debutant Abdullah Shafiq partnered with Kamran Akmal to score 145 runs together as Central Punjab (CP) beat Southern Punjab (SP) by seven wickets in second match of the National T20 Cup. 

Abdullah absolutely stunned the cricket fraternity with his maiden century which made him the only fourth Pakistani batsmen to accomplish this feat. He remained not-out for 102 runs off 58 balls and his stunning inning included 11 boundaries and four sixes.

Kamran supported his young partner well as he scored 75 runs off 41 balls to help CP chase the target with six balls to spare.

Earlier, Shan Masood and Sohaib Maqsood scored 51 runs each to help SP score 200-8 in 20 overs against the opponents.

The right-hand, left-hand combination scored 67 runs together to help their team dominate after opener Zeeshan Ashraf walked off. The wicket-keeper batsman scored 15 runs and helped his skipper give a decent start to their team in the powerplay.

Hussain Talat scored 34 runs off 17 balls with the help of two boundaries and three sixes to further strengthen the score of SP. Aamer Yamin made quick 18 runs.

For CP, Sohaibullah bagged three wickets while Usman Qadir took two. Bilal Asif and Naseem Shah shared a wicket apiece.
