Lyon’s desire to eat toast delays play in Sheffield Shield

Nathan Lyon

Australian ace spinner, Nathan Lyon’s urge to have a toast in the change room delayed the Sheffield Shield match between NSW’s JLT and Queensland for 30 minutes.

Umpires suspended the game on Wednesday afternoon at Allan Border field as the fire alarm of the Stuart Law stand went off, where both the teams, media, and scorers were present, the stand had to be evacuated for the security reasons.

The game resumed after Lyon accepted his mistake that he burnt a toast in the change room that made the fire alarm to ring.

“(The toast) popped up first and I wasn’t happy so I put it back down and I got carried away watching the cricket,” Lyon told.

“It happens every second week (at home), I reckon. I was getting a bit bored in the change rooms,” he added Steve Smith already said he’s going to cover it (the fire truck call-out fee),” he said.

There were chaotic scenes at the field as firefighters arrived at the destination to get the situation under control.
