Pakistan started off their Super Four stage campaign of Asia Cup with a loss against Malaysia by 3-2 at the Maulana Bhashani Stadium in Bangladesh on Wednesday.
Pakistan kicked off the game in style when Umar Bhutta scored the first goal for Pakistan in the first minute of the game.
However, Pakistan could not manage their lead for long as Malaysia’s Razi Rahim scored an equalizer on a penalty corner just a minute before the end of first quarter.
The Men in Green once again got the upperhand in the game as they scored their second goal courtesy of Azfar Yaqoob in the just the fourth minute of the second quarter.
Malaysia once again came from behind as Shahril Sabah cut off Pakistan’s lead by scoring the second goal for his team in the 25th.
Fitri Saari stepped up for his team to score the third and decisive goal against Pakistan in the 34th minute by converting a penalty corner into a goal.
Pakistan will now take on South Korea on Thursday and will face off the arch-rivals India two days later.
