Malik advises U-19 team to stay focused ahead of the World Cup

LAHORE: Pakistan’s seasoned all-rounder, Shoaib Malik addressed the sendoff ceremony hosted by Pakistan Cricket Board for the U-19 side ahead of their departure for U-19 World Cup in New Zealand.

Malik advised the young cricketers to stay focused on their upcoming assignment and keep up the discipline to attain the best results.

He urged his young counterparts to forget about the nightmares of Youth Asia Cup and only aim to do well in the U-19 World Cup.

Further, he advised youngsters to not to lose their composure at any situation. He told that it is important to stay calm, especially for the captain, he has to maintain neutral expressions in order to keep his troops motivated.

He also said during his speech that the age of below nineteen years is the age of enjoyment, however, these are also the years where one can learn any art. So it is important to set an aim for what one wants to achieve.

Other cricketers that were present at the event were Junaid Khan and Usman Khan Shinwari.

PCB hosted a glittering event, which was also attended by showbiz stars to boost the morale of young cricketers ahead of the big event.

Young Pakistani players were also awarded the blazer with the Star on their chest.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 3.

Ahead of the world cup, the U-19 squad will play three ODIs against Australia on December 27, 29 and 31. Afterwards, they will travel to New Zealand for two 50-over games on January 3 and 5 followed by U-19 World Cup.
