President Mamnoon Hussain met the Pakistan Super League winning squad of Islamabad United, where he highlighted the importance of tolerance and sportsmanship and hailed the performances of youngsters Shadab Khan, Hussain Talat, Asif Ali and Sahibzada Farhan.
President Mamnoon Hussain also expressed that he has huge expectations from the young players of Pakistan.
“We have huge expectations from young players like Shadab Khan, Hussain Talat, Asif Ali and Sahibzada Farhan,” he said.
Shadab Khan has already made a name for himself being the second-ranked T20I bowler in the world. On the other hand, Hussain Talat and Asif Ali showed glimpses of their talent in their debut series against the West Indies which took place in Karachi.
Mamnoon Hussain believes that revival of cricket has defeated terrorism in the country, he accredited PSL management for bringing back international cricket in Pakistan.
“Credit goes to the PSL team for reviving international cricket in Pakistan. By holding this mega event in the country, terrorism has been defeated,” he said while talking to Islamabad United’s squad.
Moreover, he feels the massive crowds that came to witness live action at the National Stadium Karachi has sent positive and a message of peace to the world.
“The massive turnout for the matches has sent a message to the world — Pakistan is a peaceful and sports-loving nation,” he added.
Mr President also advised the youngsters to focus on their fitness and follow the footsteps of the legendary duo of Misbah Ul Haq and Younis Khan.
Islamabad United’s captain Misbah Ul Haq and the management of the team thanked Mamnoon Hussain for honouring them and also expressed their will to serve the country in future.
