Left-arm fast bowler, Waqas Maqsood is expected to get his maiden T20I cap in the final contest of the three-match series against New Zealand on Sunday at Dubai.
Maqsood, the birthday boy, has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket as well as for Pakistan ‘A’ in recent times is likely to replace either the young Shaheen Shah Afridi or Hasan Ali in the playing XI.
Pakistan have already sealed the series against Kiwis by winning the first two games after close fights, it was Pakistan’s 11th consecutive T20I series victory and Sarfraz Ahmed is yet to lose a T20I campaign under his captaincy.
Despite a dead rubber contest, Sarfraz Ahmed will push his players to keep up the winning momentum and register their ninth consecutive victory in the 20-over format of the game.
If Pakistan manage to win final encounter of the series, it will be their second successive whitewash as they beat Australia 3-0 in the recently concluded series.
Previously, Pakistan have defeated Australia, Australia & Zimbabwe (tri-series), West Indies, Sri Lanka, Scotland, England, New Zealand and World XI in the shortest format of cricket.
Pakistan have been dominating teams with their versatile bowling attack that consists both quality fast bowlers and spinners. Moreover, they have been agile in the field and also performing with the bat, winning eleven consecutive games while batting second.
However, New Zealand have looked an immensely competitive side in the first two games of the series and they can pin down the Men in Green if they manage to play better cricket in the middle overs, where Pakistan squeeze scoring rate of the Blackcaps.
The match is scheduled to start at 9 PM Pakistan Standard Time at Dubai.
