Kiwi coach, Mark Coles has been appointed as Pakistan women’s coach on the suggestion of Pakistan men’s team coach, Mickey Arthur.
Pakistan and New Zealand are due to play a three-match ODI series from October 31st followed by a four-match T20 series in the UAE.
The Kiwi coach has several coaching assignments in the Northern Districts region, he has been on leaves to pursue his international interests.
Pakistan women’s team had a horrendous run in the Women World Cup 2017, where they lost all of their seven matches. PCB took some drastic actions and removed Sana Mir from captaincy on an advice from the then coach, Sabih Azhar, who was also sacked.
Coles will arrive in Lahore in early October for training sessions before flying to UAE for the series against the Kiwi women.
Coles has followed Pakistan’s journey in the World Cup 2017 and he believes it was a tough campaign for them.
“It was tough for them, but they competed really well over there,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Coles on their website.
“I think they just lost the big moments in those games. They played well, but when the big moments came they couldn’t get the job done,” he added.
Mark Coles is happy with the progress of the Girls in Green, however, he is hoping to keep up the momentum going.
“Obviously the public just want them to win, like any international team. The team has been developing really nicely so hopefully we can continue that,” he said.
