Marylebone Cricket Club outclasses Lahore Qalandars by four wickets


Lahore: Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) beat Lahore Qalandars by four wickets in their first tour match at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on Friday. 

Ravi Bopara batted exceptionally well and scored 42 runs off 37 balls to lead the visiting side from the front. Samit Patel made 31 off 22 balls.

Earlier, while batting first, Lahore Qalandars’ batting collapsed as they were bundled for 135-5 in 20 overs after a good opening start between Fakhar Zaman and Salman Butt.

Zaman (45) and Butt (28) both scored 42 runs together for the first wicket. Skipper Sohail Akhtar, in the end, supported his team with the bat and scored 40 runs off 28 balls.

For MCC, Roelof Van der Marwe was the highest wicket-taker and he finished with 2-17 in his four overs. Michael Leask and Fred Klassen shared a wicket apiece.

In reply, MCC lost two consecutive wickets earlier at the sum of 13 runs. Apart from Bopara and Patel, Sangakkara scored 25 runs.

Mohammad Faizan was the highest wicket-taker from Qalandars with two.
