One of Barcelona’s striker, Lionel Messi’s goal have been shortlisted for UEFA’s 2015-16 Goal of the Season, the contest includes goals from European club competitions and the Euro 2016 finals.
Messi’s goal against Roma that he scored with a flick in a 6-1 victory in a Champions League group stage game has been in the race to be named as the goal of the season, the goal was assisted by the two other components of MSN, Suarez and Neymar.
Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez’s magical effort against Bayern Munich in the semi final first leg is also in the contention for the best goal.
Other than that, Gonzalo Higuain, who has recently joined Juventus, scored a screamer for Napoli against Legia Warsaw in the Europa League has also made to the last ten shortlisted goals for the award.
Juan Cuadrado and Stephan Lichtsteiner’s mesmerizing goals for Juventus are also among the top for the last season.
The goals from Zoltan Gera of Hungary and Cristiano Ronaldo’s header against Wales were the top two goals selected by the fans from the Euro 2016, however, both of them failed to get nominated for the UEFA’s award and Xherdan Shaqiri’s goal against Poland with a bicycle kick against Poland and Hamsik’s goal for Slovakia has made it to the list.
Other nominated goals include young Carlos Alena’s goal for Barcelona against Roma in the UEFA Youth League, Camille Abily’s score for Lyon in the Women’s Champions League and Ricardinho’s goal from Futsal Euro 2016.
Fans can vote for their favourite goal by accessing UEFA’s official website. The winners will be disclosed on August 25 before Champions League group-stage draw.
