Michael Vaughan terms ICC ranking system as ‘absolute garbage’

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has bashed the International Cricket Council (ICC) ranking system and termed it as “absolute garbage’.

Vaughan thinks World number two and four New Zealand and England are not deserving to be in those positions respectively because they have not won Test series in the last two years.

“I will be honest about the ICC rankings, I think they are absolute garbage,” Vaughan quoted by the Australian magazine.

He pointed out his own team rankings and said. “It can’t be right, England in Test cricket can not be third as they have struggled in Test cricket in the last three, four years majorly overseas,” he said.

“They just drawn the Ashes in England and won a Test match against Ireland, these rankings are confusing,” He added.

The 45-year-old also feels that New Zealand doesn’t deserve to be at second as Australia is a far better team than them currently.

It must be noted that India are Number one in the Test team rankings, followed by New Zealand, South Africa, England, and Australia.
