Former South African first-class cricketer Mickey Arthur is expected to be appointed as the head coach of the Sri Lanka cricket team.
After a successful stint as head coach of the Pakistan team, Arthur captured the limelight as one of the strongest coaches in the last two to three years. He coached the green shirts to Champions Trophy triumph in 2017 and made them number one in T20I.
According to the CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), EO Ashley de Silva, Arthur is the ultimate choice for them following his recent successful tenure with Pakistan.
“Arthur had coached Australia and South Africa in past his record with Pakistan team as a head coach has impressed SLC,” de Silva said.
It is pertinent to mention here that SLC has been finding a head coach for their team since the end of the ICC World Cup this year.
Some reports revealed that SLC wanted to remove the current head coach Chandika Hathurusinghari in August but due to his contract expiring in December this year, the board has had trouble sacking him.
