‘Misbah lacks coaching experience, appointing him would be too early’ Saqlain

Pakistan’s former Test cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq thinks that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should appoint Misbah-ul-Haq to groom young players before assigning him the responsibilities of the senior team.

While speaking on the latest happening in the PCB regarding the appointment of the coaching staff for senior men’s team, Saqlain opined that it is better to give coaching exposure to Misbah.

“I think PCB should utilize Misbah’s experience in grooming the young players. Alongside working with young players, he can be useful for senior players at the National Cricket Academy (NCA),” former off-spinner said.

The veteran of 49 Tests and 169 ODIs praised Misbah for his mindset as a cricketer. “I have no doubts about his ability. He was a wonderful player with full calm and patience. He served the country honestly,” Saqlain maintained.

The 42-years-old former cricketer, on the other hand, adviced Misbah that if he gets the role of head coach then he should be keen about taking the game forward.

“The green shirts are lined up to participate in tough events ahead. If Misbah gets the post of head coach then he should frame a strong plan for upcoming series and T20 World Cup, next year,” he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Misbah-ul-Haq is the front-runner for taking up the post of Pakistan team’s head coach. He along with Australia’s Dean Jones and Pakistan’s Mohsin Khan gave the interview to PCB’s five-member coach finding panel on Thursday.
