Former skipper of Pakistan team Misbah-ul-Haq has made a huge decision as he will stay in the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League as an active player.
On Sunday, Islamabad United released an official statement in which they have mentioned that Misbah will not be a part of the franchise. The experienced player was offered a non-playing role by the franchise but he wished to stay in players’ draft for PSL 4.
“In weeks leading up to the draft, Islamabad United had reached an agreement with Misbah-ul-Haq regarding his appointment as a mentor of the franchise for the PSL4 and going forward,” the franchise stated.
“Despite having reached that agreement, the franchise was informed yesterday that Misbah wishes to stay in players’ draft for PSL4 for consideration as an active player.”
The franchise had earlier announced to bring the 44-year-old cricketer onboard as a mentor for the team.
Misbah who led Islamabad United for last three seasons of PSL was appointed as a member of Cricket Committee by Pakistan Cricket Board last month.
The draft of PSL 4 will be held in Islamabad on November 20, while the tournament will kick-off from February 14, 2019.
