Birmingham: Pakistan men’s team head coach Misbah-ul-Haq admitted that he won’t defend the national team’s performance in ODIs against England and it has worried him after Green Shirts performed well in the last few series.

The 47-year-old Misbah interacted with reporters today in a virtual presser and opined that it was a very disappointing performance and fielding was the main problem throughout the series.

“It feels like we have come back to the point from where we started. We have to just find how we can move on from here and analyze why we performed in this manner. We have been performing well in the last five-six series but we only played PSL in the last few months and over here we looked off-colour. It’s a worrying sign for me as well,” he said.

“You can’t defend this kind of performance. It is a poor and disappointing performance. We couldn’t deal with the conditions in the first two matches,” he added.

Misbah further said that they will take this loss as a team and will not put blame solely on the players.

“I believe that it is a teamwork and if the plans were not executed, we are as much to be blamed along with players. As a team, we were unsuccesful,” he maintained.

It must be noted that England’s second-string side whitewashed Pakistan in three-match series. Green Shirts will now face the hosts in three-match T20I series, starting from July 16.
