Pakistan’s ace fast bowler, Mohammad Amir wishes for Pakistan to win the upcoming World Cup 2019 and become the best bowler of the tournament which is to be played from May 30th to July 14th in England.
“It’s such a big event. First of all, I wish for Pakistan to win and then that I should be the best bowler in the tournament,” expressed Mohammad Amir.
It will be the first World Cup of Mohammad Amir’s career, he missed the global cricketing event of 2011 and 2015 due to the five-year ban imposed on him in 2010 for being involved in spot-fixing.
Amir is excited to represent Pakistan and believes that it is an honour for any cricketer to play for his country in a World Cup.
“It’s a dream for any cricketer to play in the World Cup,” he said. “It will be my first World Cup and I will try to do my best. It’s like a dream come true. Representing your country and playing in a big ICC tournament, one has to be lucky for all this and I consider myself just that,” he stated.
The 26-year old is giving special attention to his fitness and he does not want to miss out on the big opportunity due to an injury.
“Players prepare for two to four years to play in such a big event but then get injured just before the tournament. We have a good rotation policy and that’s why I’m well prepared for the tournament,” he went on to say.
Mohammad Amir played a key role in Pakistan’s triumph in World T20 2009 and Champions Trophy 2017.
