KARACHI: Chief selector Moin Khan arrived in Karachi on Thursday and will meet PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan, who, according to reports, may ask him to resign over his casino visit scandal.
Following a huge outcry from Pakistan cricket fans and media over Moin’s casino visit before Pakistan and West Indies match, Shaharayar told him to return as soon as possible.
Moin would meet Shaharyar tomorrow to explain his position.
It is expected Shaharyar may ask him to resign from his chief selector’s post.
Moin has apologized to Shaharyar and the nation over his casino visit scandal, when the team was playing in important World Cup event.
Moin, after initially denying, has finally confessed to have visited the casino before Pakistan’s World Cup match against West Indies.
Visiting a casino during an important World Cup campaign has been considered as a breach of PCB’s code of conduct.
Moin had initially even denied that he visited the casino in spite of video evidence, which went viral on social media.
He later changed his stance and said that he went to a casino only on a tip that some players were there.
However, he finally confessed that he did go to a casino only to eat and not to gamble as has been portrayed by the media. Moin has also apologized for his initial statement where he said that he went to a casino to check which players were there.
“Only an apology must not be accepted from Moin and a disciplinary action should be taken against him by the board,” Sarfraz Nawaz, former Pakistan pacer, said.
Sarfraz added that if Moin gets away with only an apology, then such incidents would take place in future as well.
Pakistan has lost both of its first two matches against India and West Indies, comprehensively by 76 and 150 runs respectively.
