LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan on Tuesday said that he has accepted Moin’s explanation that he only visited the casino to eat and not to gamble and therefore no disciplinary action has been taken against him.
“Moin Khan has told me that he went to casino to eat and not to gamble. After investigating the matter, no evidence was found on the basis of which we could take a disciplinary against him therefore he will remain chief selector,” Shaharyar told reporters on Tuesday.
After Pakistan lost high-octane match against India by 76 runs and then was thrashed by West Indies by 150 runs, the news of Moin’s visit to a casino before West Indies match, shocked the already disappointed fans back home.
Following a huge outcry from Pakistan cricket fans and media, Shaharayar had told Moin to return as soon as possible.
Moin had apologized to Shaharyar and the nation over his casino visit scandal, when the team was playing in important World Cup event.
Moin had confessed to have visited the casino before Pakistan’s World Cup match against West Indies.
Moin had initially even denied that he visited the casino in spite of video evidence, which went viral on social media.
He later changed his stance and said that he went to a casino only on a tip that some players were there.
However, he finally confessed that he did go to a casino only to eat and not to gamble as has been portrayed by the media. Moin later also apologized for his initial statement where he said that he went to a casino to check which players were there.
