Karachi: Pakistan men’s cricket team head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq advised all the players to reflect on their game and try to get rid of their weakness during this forced break from the game due to current global crisis.
Speaking to Cricinfo, Misbah revealed that he along with assistant coach Shahid Aslam is in touch with every player individually.
“I think this break is a golden opportunity for players to reflect on themselves. It is the best time when players can find out what is missing in themselves and try to make improvements wherever needed,” Misbah said.
“I am also making efforts with my assistant coach to find out old videos of players and watch them and advise players on their weaknesses. This is the best time where we can plan things properly and implement them at full. We are in touch with players and making them work on fitness as they need to be in touch because nobody knows when the situation will get better and cricket resumes,” he added.
Misbah highlighted that most of the players don’t have proper resources at home to do proper training but stressed the importance of mental and general physical fitness.
“Problem is that at this time nobody has the facilities to practice, so for now the one thing I am talking to players is about fitness,” the head coach maintained.
Meanwhile, the former cricketer requested his players to stay safe and look after people in need around. “It’s important for us to not think about anything other than how to save humanity from this virus. This is the time when you shouldn’t be thinking like a cricketer but as a man, how you can help and how to get out of this situation, and that is the biggest fight for any profession in the world,” he concluded.
