MTWFC clinches the PFF National U-19 Women’s Championship


KARACHI: Jaweria scored thrice to guide Model Town Women Football Club (MTWFC) to beat Islamabad 4-3 in the final clash to lift the trophy of the PFF National U-19 Women’s Championship at The City School ground, Lahore on Sunday.

MTWFC in the first five minutes started counter attacking with couple of chances missed but it was not too late when Jaweria scored in 11th minute to provide them an ample opportunity to get rid of the must win game. She with her second goal in 22nd minute doubled the lead for MTWFC.

Two minutes later, Veera Ayoub of Islamabad scored an equalizer to release the pressure but in 28th minute Rameen with her loan goal strengthen MTWFC’s position in the match.

Veera Ayoub came up with her second goal in 34th minute bring Islamabad back in the match.

In the second half, Jaweria with her third goal in 53rd minute took the score of MTWFC to 4 against 2. Eshal Fiaz hit the third goal for Islamabad in 61st minute to make the final match an interesting one.

Thereafter, MTWFC with their solid defence didn’t provide Islamabad a chance to score.

MTWFC received the price purse of Rs 300,000 while Islamabad bagged Rs 200,000. Fair Play award was given to Sindh with cash prize of Rs 100,000.

On the other hand, Rameen got Rs 40,000 for best player of the tournament. Top scorer of the tournament Javairia collected Rs 30,000.
