Ton-up Muneeba Ali propelled PCB Challengers to beat PCB Dynamites by 42 runs in the third match of the National Triangular T20 Women’s Cricket Championship at National Stadium Karachi (NSK) on Saturday.
Muneeba, who now becomes the first women cricketer to struck a century in women’s domestic cup, led her team to the first win in the tournament.
“It is an achievement for me to score a hundred here, especially before an all-important ICC World Cup. I hope to continue the form ahead,” Muneeba said in a post-match presser.
While batting first, Challengers posted 182-3 in 20 overs with Muneeba scoring 108 runs off 69 balls. Her inning included 17 fours and a six. She also partnered with skipper Bismah Maroof (32) to score a prominent 118 runs third-wicket partnership in the match.
“Bismah asked me to stay until the end. My focus was to score runs and in T20 if you back yourself, you get runs on the scoreboard,” the left-handed opener added.
Meanwhile, Nida Dar played quickly by scoring 29 runs off 14 balls laced with four boundaries and a six.
Sana Mir was the only wicket-taker from Dynamites. She bagged Bismah to finish at 1-44. The other two batters including Muneeba and Ayesha Zafar got run out.
In reply, skipper Nahida Khan played an anchor role for Dynamites by providing 43 runs opening partnership before Sidra Amin left out. Nahida scored 36 runs off 29 runs before falling to Nida who finished with the figures of 1-10.
Iram Javed scored 38 runs while Kaniat Hafeez contributed 26 runs.
