Former England’s star batsman, Kevin Pietersen has cleared the air that his refusal to come to Lahore to play Pakistan Super League (PSL) final had nothing to do with Imran Khan’s statement.
Quetta Gladiators Kevin Pietersen held a live session on Facebook, where he was answering different questions from fans and one of them asked about his decision about not to travel to Pakistan.
On this question he plainly replied, “Security issues.”
Obviously it turned out to be fine and that is wonderful,” he added.
“I was told that it will not be a good idea to travel to Pakistan and it can involve a little bit of risk,” he went on to say.
Similar to his countryman, Luke Wright, he also stated that he has a young family and it was his family’s decision to not travel to Pakistan for the final.
“It had absolutely nothing to do with what Imran Khan said, that has been floated around in Pakistan media, it has absolutely nothing to do with that,” he made clear.
“It was a decision made before the tournament that I will not be travelling to Lahore,” he concluded.
Earlier, Imran Khan coined holding PSL final in Lahore as ‘complete madness’ and it was a bit too risky to host the big game in the country as compared to the reward it will offer.
