‘Najma wasn’t fit to play in Olympics 2020’ AFP’s letter discloses

LAHORE: Sprinter Najma Parveen wasn’t fit enough to participate in Tokyo Olympics 2020, Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP)’s letter disclosed.

According to the details, AFP sent a letter to Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) dated July 5 stating that Najma wasn’t serious about her fitness and training for the Olympics. Hence, the AFP suggested POA pull her name out of Pakistani participants for Tokyo Olympics 2020.

However, the sprinter was still sent to Tokyo among 10 athletes for the ongoing Olympics Games 2020. In her 200m heat on Monday, Najma finished last among seven participants. Her run was highly criticized on Twitter.

Meanwhile, sources further told ARY News that Najma never reported to AFP since she got married. Also, POA sent an unqualified coach with Najma to Tokyo on personal PR.
