Former England’s skipper, Nasser Hussain has set a new Guinness World Record for the highest catch of a cricket ball from the height of 150 ft.
Nasser attempted the record at Lord’s wearing wicketkeeper’s gloves, a BatCam drone flown to a height of 100 ft in the first attempt and dropped the cricket ball, the former English batsman had no difficulty in catching from that height.
The 48-year old former cricketer and currently the commentator for Sky Sports, asked to increase the height and the drone to was taken to 150 ft, the ball was dropped and Nasser caught the ball again, but, this time hurting his hand a little.
In the third and final attempt, the drone was taken to an ultimate height of 400 ft, when the BatCam dropped the ball, breeze took it out of Nasser’s reach and as a result the attempt was not counted.
However, the Englishman made his way into the Guinness Book of World Record for the highest catch of cricket ball from 150 ft.
Nasser said after the record attempt, “’It was great fun attempting to catch cricket balls dropped from a drone at the home of cricket – something I never thought I would do. But I am now looking forward to giving my hands a rest and getting back to the commentary box for the upcoming Test match.”
