National Tray Hockey Championship kicks off October 22


Lahore: The National Tray Hockey Championship is all set to commence here at Hockey Stadium from tomorrow [October 22], confirmed Asif Bajwa, the secretary of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).

Speaking to media on Wednesday, Bajwa said this event featuring 10 teams will mark the start of the domestic season after the COVID-19 situation eases down.

“It is a first step towards reviving hockey activities in the country in COVID-19 times. As many as 10 teams will participate in the event. Two top teams will qualify for National Hockey Championship which is scheduled in Rawalpindi,” said Bajwa.

The secretary further said that back-to-back events after a long gap will help them put a strong case at the international level. “We aim to start international activities for our teams as soon as possible. These events will help us in reviving the game in the country,” he concluded.
