Nauman Anwar (50) and Mohammad Saad (59) led Central Punjab (CP) to a six wickets win against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in their last group stage match in the National T20 2nd XI Tournament.
Both the batsmen scored 72 runs for the second wicket to complete the chase for CP in 16.4 overs which helped them qualify for the semi-final of the tournament.
Earlier, Opting to bat first, KP managed to get 148-9 runs on the scoreboard. Asad Afridi scored 43 runs off 25 balls with the help of three boundaries and sixes each. Mehran Ibrahim made 31 runs.
Right-arm pacer Ehsan Adil picked up three wickets while conceding 16 runs. Bilawal Iqbal and Raza Ali Dar bagged two wickets each.
In reply, CP lost their opener Usman Salahuddin earlier for just 11 runs. Thereafter, Nauman and Saad built up the inning for them.
Dar, who took two wickets, played well with the bat two as his 13-balls 21 runs cameo finished the things well for CP.
Sameen Gul picked up two wickets for KP.
In the last group stage match of the tournament, Northern beat Baluchistan by five wickets to become the fourth team to qualify for the knock-out stage. Zeeshan Malik and Shoaib Ahmed scored 37 runs each to help Northern chase 148 runs three overs before.
While batting first, Baluchistan posted 147-7 in 20 overs. Jalat Khan was the highest scorer with 18 runs. He struck a boundary and six each.
Raza Hasan and Naumal Ali bagged two wickets each for Northern while conceding 22 and 31 runs respectively.
Now, in the first semi-final on Wednesday, table-toppers Southern Punjab will play against Central Punjab (fourth in the table) while second-placed Sindh will play third-placed Northern in the second semi-final on same day.
