‘Imran Nazir was more talented than Virender Sehwag’ says Shoaib Akhtar

Karachi: Former Pakistan’s pacer Shoaib Akhtar has claimed that the hard-hitting opening batsman Imran Nazir was more talented than former Indian legend Virender Sehwag.

The 44-year-old believes that Pakistan did not take good care of the talent Imran had but on the other hand, said that Sehwag had a better brain.

“Sehwag had a better brain than Nazir but he didn’t had the talent Nazir had There is no comparison with regards to talent. We tried to contain him a little. When he hit a hundred in a side match against India, I asked team management to play Imran Nazir consistently but they didn’t listen,” Akhtar told to a local media.

“It’s unlucky that we don’t know how to take care of our brands. We could have easily had a better player batsman than Sehwag in him [Imran Nazir]. He had all the essentials while being a good fielder but we couldn’t utilize him properly,” he added.

Akhtar concluded by revealing that it was because of great Javed Miandad who knew how to make Nazir bat well during his career.
