The mystery behind the man who approached the Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has been revealed. It is identified that the person who contacted Sarfraz is none other than the same person who provides practice bowlers in PSL and IPL. The man is apparently identified as Irfan Ansari, who gave the Pakistan skipper a spot-fixing offer.

Ansari approached the 33-year-old cricketer following the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka, and immediately after which Sarfraz had reported the matter to the ICC.

According to several reports, it could not be confirmed if Irfan Ansari was questioned by the apex body of Cricket. A reporter managed to get him on a conversation, over his mobile in the United Arab Emirates, only for him to reply “this is all humbug.”

“It happened and I did what I was supposed to do,” Sarfraz told journalists in Abu Dhabi confirming that he reported the corrupt approach.

“I wasn’t worried much initially but the way it was all reported in the media made me a bit worried. Anyway, everything is normal now and I am focused on my game,” he added.

Ansari is a Pakistani national living in UAE since 1976.  Irfan is alleged to have approached Sarfraz on the third ODI at Abu Dhabi.

A source in the UAE adds, “Ansari is still involved in coaching as a part-time coach for different academies”.

The Sharjah stadium management has reportedly decided to take action against the employee in question.

Pakistan cricket team head coach Mickey Arthur had also praised Sarfraz for reporting the spot-fixing offer and was confident that all his players would act in the same way.
